Masks We Wear (I+II)
These pieces express the sociotropic parts of my personality, the flowers represent a sort of external artificial happiness, and feigned kindness worn as a defence mechanism to cover the internal struggle for social recognition. The flowers also mask the real feelings that are harboured within. The masks both protect and imprison, and the forms carry many scars and wounds from many conflicts internally and externally. They are very serious, proud, independent, and show their absolute resistance to being controlled by others. However, in reality they long to let down their guard, let go and connect.
